PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, perform skilled work in construction, alteration, repair, and installation of fixtures, buildings, and structures throughout the district. Maintain district structures and furniture in attractive and safe condition. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical fixtures and systems in district facilities.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Prefer accredited high school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas driver's license
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Ability to read
- Ability to follow oral and/or written directions
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge and observance of safety rules when driving
- Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in carpentry
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
- Ability to measure and perform mathematical computations
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
- Knowledge of plumbing codes
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
- Knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring and operating principles of motors
- Knowledge of local electrical codes
- Ability to communicate verbally
- Ability to operate tractor and landscaping equipment
- Ability to operate riding or power mower
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling and reaching
- Work outside and inside, with exposure to all types of weather and noise
EXPERIENCE:
- Plumbing experience preferred
- Carpenter experience preferred
